Ingredients for Shahi Tukra and Moong Dal Halwa Canapes Recipe

  • White Bread Slices 6-7

  • Skinless Green Gram soaked 1 cup

  • Ghee 6 tablespoons

  • Milk 2-3 cups

  • Milkmaid 1 cup (400 gms)

  • Green cardamom powder 1 teaspoon

  • Nutmeg powder 1 teaspoon

  • Raisins 1 tablespoon

  • Chopped almonds 1 tablespoon

  • Silver leaf for decorating


Step 1

Crush green gram in a food processor coarsely.

Step 2

Heat 3 tbsps ghee in a non-stick pan. Add crushed green gram and sauté for ½ hour.

Step 3

Add milk, stir to mix and cook till the milk reduces.

Step 4

Take bread slices and cut out roundels from them using a medium size cookie cutter.

Step 5

Heat remaining ghee in another non-stick pan. Place bread roundels on it and shallow-fry till evenly golden from both sides. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 6

Add Milkmaid to green gram and mix well. Add cardamom powder, nutmeg powder, raisins and chopped almonds and mix well. Cook till the mixture turns golden.

Step 7

Place fried bread roundels on a serving dish and put spoonful on Milkmaid on each. Make quennels of the cooked green gram mixture and place on each roundel. Decorate with silver leaf.

Step 8

Serve immediately.
