Ingredients for Pavakkai Varuvval Recipe

  • Bitter gourd (karela) 2 medium

  • Tamarind paste 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil to deep fry

Method

Step 1

Cut the karelas into thin slices and place in a plate.

Step 2

Add salt and turmeric powder and mix well. Keep aside for 10 minutes.

Step 3

Wash them thoroughly and drain on absorbent paper.

Step 4

Transfer onto a plate. Add red chilli powder, tamarind paste and mix well.

Step 5

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Deep fry the karela slices till crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 6

Transfer on a serving plate, add salt and mix well. Serve hot.
