Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Oats And Rice Kheer Recipe

  • Oats 1/2

  • Milk 5 cups

  • Rice soaked for 2 hours 4 tablespoons

  • Sugar 4 tablespoons

  • Almond slivers 1 tablespo

  • Pistachio slivers 1 tablespo

  • Saffron a pinch


Step 1

Pour the milk into a deep non-stick pan and bring it to a boil. Add rice and simmer, stirring continuously, till it is cooked.

Step 2

Add sugar, mix well and cook till the sugar dissolves. Add oats, mix well and cook for five minutes.

Step 3

Add almond and pistachio slivers, saffron and mix well.

Step 4

Serve hot garnished with some almond and pistachio slivers.
