Ingredients for Mutton Assada Recipe

  • Mutton 1 1/2 kilograms

  • Green Chillies

  • Green chillies 5

  • Ginger 1 inch piece

  • Garlic 10-12 cloves

  • Turmeric powder 2 teaspoons

  • Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon

  • Vinegar 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Oil 3 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Onions sliced 2 medium

  • Whole dry red chilli 2

Method

Step 1

Clean and wash the mutton and cut into one and half inch pieces. Remove the stems and wash the green chillies.

Step 2

Peel and roughly chop ginger and garlic. Grind together green chillies, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, pepper powder with vinegar.

Step 3

Prick the mutton pieces all over with a fork and rub the ground masala all over. Let it marinate for three hours. Heat oil and add sliced onions. Sauté till they are well browned.

Step 4

Add the mutton and continue to sauté till the mutton pieces are browned. Add red chillies, one cup of warm water and cover. Cook till the mutton is tender.
