Ingredients for Masala Scotch Eggs Recipe

  • Eggs hard boiled and peeled 2

  • Potato 2

  • Potatoes boiled, peeled and mashed 3 medium

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

  • Green chilli finely chopped 1

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder a pinch

  • Chaat masala 1 teaspoon

  • Mustard oil 2 tablespoons

  • Grated cheese 1 tablespoon

  • Dry brown breadcrumbs for coating

  • Oil for deep-frying

Method

Step 1

Place potatoes in a bowl. Add onion, green chilli, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, chaat masala, mustard oil and cheese and mix well.

Step 2

Break eggs into another bowl and whisk thoroughly. Spread breadcrumbs on a plate.

Step 3

Heat sufficient oil in a deep pan.

Step 4

Coat the boiled eggs with the potato mixture. Then dip each egg in the whisked egg and roll in breadcrumbs. Repeat this process once more and gently shape it between palms to resemble an egg.

Step 5

Gently slide the coated eggs in hot oil and deep fry till evenly golden. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 6

Transfer onto a serving plate and serve hot.
