Ingredients for Khatte Meethe Chawal Recipe

  • Rice 1 1/2 cups

  • Prunes chopped 1/2 cup

  • Ghee 2 tablespoons

  • Green cardamoms 4

  • Cinnamon 1 inch stick

  • Raisins 1 tablespoon

  • Orange juice 2 1/2 cups

  • Sugar 1/2 cup


Step 1

Soak rice in three cups of water for half an hour. Take oil/ghee in a microwave bowl.

Step 2

Add green cardamoms and cinnamon and cook uncovered in the microwave on HIGH (100%) for two minutes. Drain the water from the rice and add to the bowl.

Step 3

Add prunes and raisins. Mix and then add orange juice and sugar and mix well. Cook uncovered on microwave HIGH (100%) for five minutes.

Step 4

Mix lightly, cover and cook on microwave HIGH (100%) for two minutes. Reduce power to microwave medium (70%) and cook till done. Let it stand for five minutes. Serve hot.
