Ingredients for Kadai Gosht Hussainee Recipe

  • Boneless mutton cut into ¾ inch pieces 500 grams

  • Yogurt whisked 1 cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Dried fenugreek leaves (kasoori methi) crushed 1 teaspoon

  • Oil 6 tablespoons

  • Onions 3 medium

  • Ginger 2 inch piece

  • Garlic 15-20 cloves

  • Coriander seeds crushed 2 1/2 teaspoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Dried red chillies 3-4

  • Mustard seeds 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Green capsicum 1 medium

  • Tomato 1 medium

  • Almond paste 3 tablespoons

  • Water 1 cup

  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Place mutton in a bowl, add yogurt, salt, red chilli powder and mix. Add kasuri methi and mix. Keep the bowl in a refrigerator to marinate for 1 hour.Heat 4 tbsps oil in a deep non stick pan. Slice 2 onions and add. Cut ginger into thin strips and roughly chop garlic and add both to the pan and sauté till lightly browned. Crush together coriander seeds, cumin seeds, red chillies and mustard seeds. Chop the remaining onion along with capsicum and tomato into ½ inch pieces.

Step 2

Add the ground spices to the sautéing onions and mix. Add mutton and mix and sauté on high heat for 4-5 minutes. Heat 2 tbsps oil in another non stick pan, add onion and capsicum and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Add almond paste and 1 cup water to the mutton and mix. Cover and cook on medium heat. Add tomato to sautéing onion-capsicum, mix and sauté for a couple of minutes. Add garam masala powder to the mutton, mix, cover and cook till the mutton is completely cooked. Garnish with the sautéed onion-capsicum-tomato and serve hot.
