During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Chocolate Cinnamon Cookies Recipe

  • Cocoa powder 1/2 cup

  • Cinnamon powder 1/2 teaspoons

  • Butter 3 tablespoons

  • Refined flour (maida) 1/2 cup

  • Salt a pinch

  • Baking soda 1 teaspoon

  • Lemon zest grated 1 teaspoon

  • Sugar 3/4 cups

  • Walnuts chopped 1 1/2 cups

  • Orange juice 3 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 160°C.

Step 2

Place butter with refined flour in a bowl and mix well with back of a spoon till the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

Step 3

Sieve together cocoa powder and salt into the bowl. Add baking soda, lemon zest, cinnamon powder, sugar and walnuts and mix well

Step 4

Add orange juice and mix well to a soft dough.

Step 5

Place a silicon mat on a baking tray. Divide dough into 15-20 equal portions and place on the sheet. Place in preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes.

Step 6

Take them out and let them cool. Serve or store in airtight containers.
