Ingredients for Chilli Chicken Khada Masala Recipe

  • Boneless Chicken cut into thin strips 500 grams

  • Green chillies 2-3

  • Fresh red chillies 2-3

  • Cloves 5-6

  • Black peppercorns 1 teaspoon

  • Cinnamon 1 inch

  • Oil 2-3 tablespoons

  • Onions sliced 2 medium

  • Coriander seeds 1 tablespoon

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Fennel seeds (saunf) 1 teaspoon

  • Mustard seeds 1 tablespoon

  • Green capsicum 1 medium

  • Red capsicum 1 medium

  • Curry leaves 15-17

  • Dried red chillies broken 2-3

  • Ginger-garlic paste 2-3 teaspoons

  • Juice of 1 lemon

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a deep non-stick pan, add onions and sauté till light brown.

Step 2

Dry roast coriander seeds, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, cloves, mustard seeds, peppercorns and cinnamon in a non-stick pan till fragrant.

Step 3

Cut green and red capsicum in thin strips.

Step 4

Add curry leaves to the 2nd pan and mix well. Add broken dried red chillies and continue to roast till fragrant. Set aside to cool.

Step 5

Add chicken strips to the deep pan and mix well. Add salt and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 6

Grind the roasted ingredients to coarse powder.

Step 7

Add ginger-garlic paste to the deep pan and mix well.

Step 8

Slice green and red chillies into diamonds and add to the pan and toss well. Add capsicum strips and mix. Cover and cook for 5-7 minutes.

Step 9

Add 3 tbsps ground spice powder and store the rest in an airtight container. Add lemon juice and mix well. Cover and cook till the chicken is done.

Step 10

Transfer into a serving platter and serve hot.
