Ever wondered why the phrase “say cheese” is used just before a photograph is clicked? Simply because ‘cheese’ makes one smile! Not only the word but cheese as a food makes a lot of palates happy. It is an inexpensive, versatile and nourishing food. We have our very own Indian version as well as the ones made from soy milk that are even healthier. Whichever form, this is one food that is loved by one and all!

Ingredients for Cheesy Paneer Papdi Recipe

  • Mozzarella cheese as required

  • Paneer (cottage cheese) small cubes 70 grams

  • Papdis 16

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Garlic chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Onion finely chopped 1 small

  • Salt to taste

  • Green chutney 1 tablespoon

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Cherry tomatoes roundels 16

  • coriander sprig for garnish


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180° C.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Add cumin seeds and sauté for 30 seconds.

Step 3

Add onion and sauté. Add salt and sauté till onion turns translucent. Add green chutney and sauté for 1 minute.

Step 4

Add cottage cheese, mix and cook for 1 minute. Add crushed peppercorns and mix.

Step 5

Put some cottage cheese mixture in the centre of each papdi and grate some mozzarella cheese on top. Place them on a baking tray.

Step 6

Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake till cheese melts.

Step 7

Place papdis in small individual serving plates and place one cherry tomato roundel on the side.

Step 8

Serve immediately garnished with fresh coriander sprigs.
