Super healthy, cabbage goes a long way back. In ancient times, the Greeks treated it as a special food for its many medicinal properties. There are tales about raw cabbage juice being a standard treatment for a nasty hangover! Salads, dals, sabzis, pickles and even raitas, cabbage does full justice to each preparation. Shop for the ones that have a crisp, shiny look to it.

Ingredients for Bavarian Salad Recipe

  • Cabbage shredded 1 cup

  • Carrot cut into strips 1 medium

  • Green capsicum cut into strips 1 medium

  • Thick yogurt 1 cup

  • Mayonnaise ½ cup

  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli flakes 1 teaspoon

  • Mustard powder ½ teaspoon

  • Celery finely chopped 1 stalk

  • Processed cheese cubes ½ cup


Step 1

To make dressing, combine yogurt, mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, chilli flakes and mustard powder in a bowl. Whisk well.

Step 2

Combine cabbage, carrot, capsicum and celery in another bowl and toss well. Add dressing and mix well. Add cheese cubes and toss to mix. Refrigerate for 15-20 minutes.

Step 3

Serve chilled on a bed of Romaine lettuce.
