Ingredients for Baked Onion Rings Recipe

  • Onions cut into thick roundels, layers separated and soak 2 large

  • Quinoa ¾ cup

  • Refined flour (maida) ¾ cup

  • Paprika 1 teaspoon

  • Mixed herbs 1 teaspoon

  • Mustard paste 1 teaspoon

  • Onion powder 1 teaspoon

  • Garlic Powder 1 teaspoon

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Salt to taste

  • Bread crumbs fresh ¼ cup

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180º C.

Step 2

Dry roast quinoa in a non-stick pan till golden and crisp.

Step 3

Put flour, paprika, mixed herbs, mustard paste, onion powder, garlic powder, crushed peppercorns and salt in a bowl. Add some water and whisk well to make a semi-thick batter.

Step 4

Coarsely grind the roasted quinoa and spread on a plate. Add breadcrumbs and salt and mix well.

Step 5

Pat dry soaked onion rings on an absorbent paper.

Step 6

Dip each onion ring in batter, coat with quinoa mixture and place on a baking tray.

Step 7

Place the baking tray in preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.

Step 8

Serve hot.
