Ingredients for Stuffed Tiger Prawns - Goan Style Recipe

  • Tiger prawns shelled, deveined with tail intact 8-10

  • Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Ginger-garlic paste 1 teaspoon

  • Onion finely chopped 1 small

  • Dried red chillies 4

  • Garlic minced 1 tablespoon

  • Cumin seeds ½ teaspoon

  • Cloves 4

  • Black peppercorns 8

  • Cinnamon ½ inch

  • Vinegar 1 tablespoon

  • Sugar ½ teaspoon

  • Oil ½ teaspoon + to shallow fry

Method

Step 1

Slit prawns lengthwise without cutting through and put them in a bowl. Add salt, turmeric powder and ginger-garlic paste and mix well. Set aside to marinate.

Step 2

Grind together onion, red chillies, garlic, cumin seeds, cloves, peppercorns, cinnamon, vinegar, salt and sugar with a little water into a fine paste.

Step 3

Heat ½ teaspoon oil in a non-stick pan. Add ground paste and sauté on low heat for a minute. Switch off heat and cool to room temperature.

Step 4

Stuff the marinated prawns with the sautéed masala, tie them with a thread and secure with a toothpick.

Step 5

Heat some oil in a non-stick pan. Shallow-fry stuffed prawns till fully cooked and golden.

Step 6

Remove the thread and the toothpick and serve hot.
