Ingredients for Indian Style Fish Croquettes Recipe

  • Rawas fillets 400 grams

  • Salt to taste

  • Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon

  • Semolina (suji) ½ cup

  • Bread crumbs ? cup

  • Dried coconut ( khopra) grated ¼ cup

  • Potatoes boiled, peeled and grated 3 medium

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Green chillies chopped 2

  • Curry leaves chopped 5-6

  • Garam masala powder 2 teaspoons

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped ¼ cup

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

  • Egg 1

  • Refined flour (maida) for dusting

  • Oil for deep-frying

Method

Step 1

Boil fish fillet with salt and ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder till done. Strain and gently flake the fish with a fork.

Step 2

Mix together semolina, breadcrumbs, coconut and salt on a plate.

Step 3

Mix together fish, potatoes, remaining turmeric powder, chilli powder, green chillies, curry leaves, garam masala powder, coriander leaves, onion and salt in a bowl.

Step 4

Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions and shape them into croquettes.

Step 5

Beat egg with 2 tablespoon water in a bowl.

Step 6

Dust the croquettes with flour, dip in beaten egg and coat with semolina mixture.

Step 7

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Deep-fry the croquettes till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 8

Serve hot with tomato ketchup or tartar sauce.
